Vaginal Birth

Vaginal birth normally occurs when there are no concerns about the baby's position in the mother's womb. It has been happening since man first walked the earth, and will continue through man's existence. The flip side of the birthing coin is to have a Caesarean section (C-section), which is a surgical procedure. This is often used when there is concern about a possible breech birth, in which the baby is not positioned to be born head-first. Recent birthing trends are toward a vaginal birth at home with a midwife's assistance, which is how most babies were born before hospitals were built.
