What Should You Do to Avoid Capsizing or Swamping

If you do a lot of sailing or boating, you no doubt have wondered what you should do to avoid capsizing or swamping the boat in case of a sudden pounding rainstorm. To capsize means to turn the boat completely over. To swamp means the boat is filling with water. If a boat capsizes it will result likely in a swamped boat. To prevent your boat from swamping be careful while having your boat running with both power and the bow up. Going from full speed ahead to quick deceleration can cause the stern to be overtaken by the wake. If the boat has a heavy load, it makes matters worse. So make sure to slow gradually instead of coming to a sudden stop. http://www.myboatclub.com/Safe_Boating.html#03
