Why Does the Stomach Rumble

We've all been in a quiet room and suddenly been embarrassed when our stomach began to rumble. It makes us wonder why does the stomach rumble like that? We usually have a problem with stomach rumbling when we haven't eaten and it's past meal time. The sound is made because the walls of our stomach come together to attempt to mix our food with stomach acids, except no food is present so it begins to gurgle and make funny noises. On occasion if the food you ate upset your stomach, you may hear it gurgling or rumbling as well. That is because your body is preparing for an episode of diarrhea. It is attempting to quickly dispose of the food you ate because it detects harmful toxins in it. All that rushing to get that stuff out of you makes a lot of noise and may even cause pain and cramping along with the noises. To avoid your stomach rumbling out of hunger, try to keep a pack of peanut butter crackers or a granola bar with you at all times in your car glovebox or purse. It keeps your energy steady and will keep the rumbles at bay. http://www.coolquiz.com/trivia/explain/docs/stomach.asp
