Different Types of Lilies

There are over 50 different types of lilies in the United States alone. The most common and popular favorites are the Easter Lily and Tiger Lily. Because most lilies start as bulbs they adapt well to most garden soils, making them a gardening favorite. Some species of lilies are poisonous so care should be taken when gardening with lilies especially if you have pets or children. A little known fun fact: although grown as vegetables, garlic and chives are actually a type of lily.
