Boolean Search

Boolean searching is named after George Boole, a 19th century English mathematician. He developed a method of symbolic logic incorporating the use of the functions: AND, OR and NOT. In Boolean searching the word AND narrows the search by combining the terms you are searching. The word OR broadens the search to include results containing either of the words you typed. The word NOT narrows the search by excluding certain terms. It will yield results that contain one but not the other of the search terms.
