Epitome Usage
The word epitome pronounced 'i- pit -?-mi', is a noun, and is derived from the Greek word which means 'to cut into' or 'summary'. It has two main usages; the most popular of which is a person or thing that represent a class or quality. Synonyms include typical or perfect example, personification, ultimate, quintessence and embodiment. For example, Michael Jackson was the epitome of a quality and popular singer/dancer. The other usage of epitome, which is not frequently used, is an abbreviation or abstract with synonyms being abridgment, summary, precis and synopsis.
