Black Vomit

Black vomit is vomit consisting of blood which has been acted upon by the gastric juice, seen in yellow fever and other conditions in which blood collects in the stomach. Coffee-ground vomit is vomit consisting of dark altered blood mixed with stomach contents. One possible cause for black vomit could be a peptic ulcer. A Peptic ulcer is erosion in the lining of the stomach or the first part of the small intestine. Alcoholic liver disease can also cause black vomit. Alcoholic liver disease is damage to the liver and its function due to alcohol abuse.
