Causes of the Greenhouse Effect

There are some natural causes of greenhouse effect such as water vapor, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, methane and ozone. There is a new type of chemical which is the chlorofluorocarbon, or CFC, which has been introduced as a refrigerant, solvent and aerosol propellant. It is also a very powerful greenhouse gas, because it can trap a lot of radiation. The primary greenhouse gases which are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen oxides, and fluorinated gases make up only one percent or less of the Earth's atmosphere, but they are almost entirely responsible for all of it's heat trapping capacity. Humans are now synthesizing more artificial nitrogen, for use as fertilizer, and some of it is released into the atmosphere as nitrogen oxide which is several hundred times more potent per unit volume than either carbon dioxide or methane.
