Importance of Philosophy
To determine the importance of philosophy, let's first define it. Philosophy is basically a system of principles that are used for guiding us in what we do in life. The reason philosophy is important is because when we examine our own philosophy, we allow ourselves to discover and root out all errors and contradictions so that we are more easily able to acquire knowledge and are able to think in concepts (general ideas or conceptions) rather than concretes. Our choice is not whether or not we need a philosophy but rather whether we will define our philosophy by a conscious, rational process of thought or let our subconscious gather unwarranted conclusions. We should be basing our philosophy on reason instead of on randomness. This will lead to success, happiness, and clarity.
