Main Difference between Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes
There are two basic types of cells, a prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Prokaryotes are characterized as being the first cells to evolve. They lack a membrane-bound nucleus. Their genetic makeup is naked within the cytoplasm. Eukaryotes differ by having the presence of a nucleus and contain internal membrane bound structures called organelles. These are vital as they help with metabolism and energy conversion within the cell. Eukaryotes also have the ability to reproduce in several ways including meiosis and mitosis.
