Microscope Inventor

The original microscope was invented in 1595 in The Netherlands. Hans Lippershey, Zacharias Janssen, and Hans Lippershey (his son) has been given credit for its invention. Hans Lippershey is also credited for the invention of the first telescope. Lippershey lived from 1570-1619. Janssen lived from 1580-1638.

Robert Hooke invented his microscope around 1595, almost forty years before Leeuwenhoek was born. When Leeuwenhoek took up his practice of grinding lenses and making microscopes, he increased the resolution from twenty to thirty times of the conventional microscope to over 200 times.
