Microscope Parts Functions

A microscope has many parts and each one has a different function. The first part is The Eye Piece Lens, this is the lens at the top that you look through with 10X or 15X power. Then you have the Tube which connects the eyepiece to the objective lenses. Theres a Arm which is to support the tube and connects it to the base. There is an Illuminator this is a steady light source used instead of a mirror, but if your microscope does have a mirror then of course you won't have an Illuminator. Theres a Stage this is where you place you slide for review. Theres a Turret or Revolving Nose Piece this part holds to mor more objective lenses and can be rotated to change power. Objective Lenses, there are usually 3 or 4. its has a Rack Stop this is the adjustment that allows you to determining how close to the objection lens you should get. It also has a Condenser Lens this helps focus the light on the specimen. And the last par tis the Diaphragm or Iris, the iris has different sized holes and is used to vary the intensity and size of the cone of light. This are all the main parts there are some more high tech Microscopes that may have a few more parts.
