Mitosis Meiosis Comparison
For both mitosis and meiosis, DNA replication occurs prior to the event. For both, the chromosomes condense as well. In meiosis, homologous chromosomes pair up, align themselves along the metaphase plate, and are drawn to opposite ends of the cell. A second division then occurs producing haploid cells (four). Mitosis is a single cell division resulting in two diploid cells.
