Nonrational Escalation of Commitment
Nonrational Escalation of Commitment is the tendency to base decisions on previous decisions. This means, regardless of the fact the original decisions or commitments were good or bad the new decision is still based on it. Based on the rationale that one likes to think that their decisions are inherently good, a person may continue to escalate a commitment for self-justification. There is also the the seeking out of evidence to support the nonrational escalation of commitment. This can also stretch beyond an individual to business and social situations as well.
