Phases of Mitosis

There are five phases of mitosis, also known as the five stages of mitosis. The first stage is called Interphase. The second stage is called Prophase. The third stage is called Metaphase. The fourth stage is called Anaphase. Lastly, the fifth stage is called Telophase. If you would like a detailed description of each of the five phases of mitosis, please click on the following link: http://biology.about.com/od/mitosis/ss/mitosisstep.htm.

The process of mitosis is complex and highly regulated. The sequence of events is divided into phases, corresponding to the completion of one set of activities and the start of the next. These stages are prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase.
