Types of Energy
Generally energy is potential energy (energy at rest or stored) or kinetic energy (energy in motion). These two types of energy form the basis of much of physics, both theoretical and practical. Architects calculate loads for different structural events to ensure the frame safely transfers one type of energy to the other, as in a gust of wind against a skyscraper. Mechanical engineers develop renewable types of energy production and storage using wind, water and heat from the sun. Many utility companies offer different plans depending on the types of energy used to create the electricity.
