4 Forms of Discourse

Communication is a very important tool in every day life. A discourse is a conversation or a way of communicating what you are thinking and feeling using words. There are four types of discourse, namely the desire to give information about something, the desire to illustrate or describe something, the desire to try to argue or persuade someone to act or do something and the desire to narrate or to talk about what happened. Depending on the type of conversation or discussion, one form of discourse may be more dominant than the rest.
