The twelve disciples are mentioned mainly in the New Testament books of the Apostles '" Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These were men not only had a personal relationship with Jesus, but they also were in his physical presence. They eat and drank with Jesus and followed him as he performed miracles and reached out to the multitudes. The apostles included James and his brother John, Simon Peter, Andrew, Phillip, Thomas and Matthew.
