Execution Hung Drawn Quartered

Some forms of execution are a little messier than others. A prisoner that's been drawn and quatered, for example, would warrant considerably more clean-up than one who has just been hung. In some cases, however, a person may be hung and drawn and quartered. In Medival England, this was the punishment for high treason. This sentence usually started with a short hanging, so the person was not quite dead. Then the offender would be disemboweled and have their genitalia burned before their eyes, if they survived the shock. Afterward, their head and limbs would be severed, then placed on display in the public square (gibbeting).
