Freedom Means
Freedom is something we now all have. Many have fought for it in the past. Many have lost their lives for it. Freedom is the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint. For more on freedom, visit www.pbs.org/wnet/historyofus .

Freedom also has another meaning, perhaps a less desirable one: openness; inventiveness; nonconformity; frankness; abandon; candor; free expression; rough are listed under looseness (n) conformity is an antonym. We enjoy all of these freedoms here in the United States.

True freedom means giving as well as receiving and does not come without a price. Sometimes that price is very high. The passengers of flight #93, which crashed on September 11, exemplified the meaning of freedom and democratic ideals.

Freedom in this country means that it doesn't matter where you come from, or what the circumstances of your birth are. It doesn't matter who you know, or how well connected you are. It doesn't matter what your religious or spiritual beliefs are, or what language you speak at home.

First, freedom means independence – the ability to take care of one’s self. If you can travel by yourself, that’s part of independence. If you can fold your own clothes, that is part of independence. And if you can cook, and so on and so forth, that’s also part of independence.

To me, freedom means each moment, of each day, of every year, I can do all things, or at least try all things that I desire. To me, freedom means being able to show sadness, happiness, and anger in public. To me, freedom means feeling safe, confident and secure in my country.
