How Long Is a Score
If it weren't for Abraham Lincoln's famous speech that states, "Four score and seven years ago," not too many of us would even know that score had meaning beyond our favorite sports teams. Numerically, a score is a group of twenty things. So a score of days would be twenty days. Four score and seven years ago would be 87 years ago. A score can also refer to a musical composition, so its length would depend on how much effort the composer put forth. If you're a sports fan, one thing is certain. Your team's score can never be long enough.

How long is four score and seven years? A score is 20 which means 4 score and seven is 87 years. Science > Calendar & Seasons ... A score is twenty (20). Not necessarily 20 years; just twenty. So fourscore would be 80, and “fourscore and seven” would be 87. Still not necessarily 87 years, but just the number 87.
