No, adultery use to be illegal in some states. Most societies prohibit adultery--sex between a married person and someone other than his or her spouse. Adultery laws were removed in Indiana in 1976. There are no penalties that the state can impose

I don't think adultery is ever illegal! You can sue someone for 'alienation of affection', but that is a civil matter. In some states it's technically illegal to 'cohabit' with someone who is married to someone else but I don't think I've ever heard of someone being prosecuted for that.
