Labor Day
Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States. It is always observed on the first Monday in September. Labor Day was started in 1882 by the Central Labor Union of New York City to create a day off for working citizens. Congress made Labor Day an official holiday in 1884. In today's standards, Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer. Most schools start their new school year the day after Labor Day.
