According to the prophecy of Daniel in the Bible, their were four great earthly kingdoms. The first was Babylon, ruled by Nebuchadnezzar. The second was the Persian kingdom. After that came Grecian rule, then Roman. The Roman kingdom became further divided into ten smaller kingdoms: Alamanni, Franks, Vandals, Suevi, Burgundians, Ostrogoths, Heruli, Anglo-Saxon, and Lombards, and Visigoths.
