Right Age to Wean Baby from Bottle

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) the recommended age to wean a baby from the bottle is one year, but in a recent poll 53% of moms admitted to allowing their baby to use bottles over a year or even longer. If you are one of those 53% of moms that have not made that huge transition from bottles to sippy cups, don't worry. Here are some tips to make that transition a lot easier for you and your baby. Number one: reserve bottles only for naps and bedtime. The reason for that is to limit the number of bottles they have in a day and to make sure they don't feel up on them and can still eat their meals. Number two: Purchase a sippy cup with a soft, nipple-like tip. This makes it easier for your baby to switch from bottles to sippy cups. Number three: remove the spill-proof valve from the sippy cup at first to make it easier for your baby to learn how to suck from the tip. Last but not least use a variety of fluids ranging from breast milk to juices so your baby realizes these beverages don't have to come from a bottle. Just by using these tips you can have your baby using a sippy cup in no time.
