Triangle Sum Theorem

The triangle sum theorem states that the sum of the interior angles of any triangle is equal to 180 degrees. There are 6 differential categories for triangles. A scalene triangle has no congruent sides. An isoceles triangle has two congruent sides. An equilateral triangle has all three sides congruent. A right triangle has one angle that measures 90 degrees. An obtuse triangle has one angle that measures more than 90 degrees. An equilateral triangle has all angles measuring the same (60 degrees).

1. Use the slider to make the angles of the triangle lie on the straight line. Make a conjecture about the sum of the angles in a triangle. 2. Use points A, B, and C to change the triangle. Now use the slider again to make the angles of the triangle lie on the straight line.

1. Use the slider to rotate the triangle and point H to translate the triangle. Make a conjecture about the relationship of an exterior angle of a triangle and it's two remote interior angles. 2. Move points A, B, and C to change the triangle.
