World War 1 Timeline

The timeline for World War I starts on June 28, 1914. That's when the heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian empire, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, was assassinated with his wife in Sarajevo. The war ended on November 11, 1918 at 11 o'clock when Germany and the Allies signed an Armistice. Some highlights from the initial stirrings of the "Great War" include Germany's declaration of war against France on August 3, 1914 and Austria-Hungary's declaration of war against Russia on August 6, 1914. There are so many events in this complex timeline, you'll need to see them all for yourself.
