Torque Converter Shudder
Torque converter shudder could be caused by a few things. To start, an input shaft on the torque converter not being perfectly straight can cause a shudder. A bent flywheel can also cause torque converter shudder. Next, if your engine is not balanced correctly, it can cause you to feel torque converter shudder as well. However, to properly diagnose the problem, a professional mechanic with the right diagnostic tools should be contacted.

If you are working on a vehicle that is expected to have torque converter shudder, you must first determine if the shudder is trans or engine related. You may do this by brake torqueing the vehicle, trying to duplicate the same load the engine had when experiencing the shudder.
