There are motherboard sensors. My MB has three of them, one is obviously One diagram shows you how to attach a thermo-couple to the outside of a CPU. Why is that 486 CPU didn't have a fan, or at the most, a very small one and 386 CPU didn't even have a heat-sink, not to mention a total lack of internal heat sensors.
