In New Zealand the poppy is most often worn around Anzac Day. Poppy Day itself – 24 April – has lost some of its meaning as poppies are now sold on the Friday (or several days) before Anzac Day. Poppies still symbolise remembrance, and New Zealanders want to show this at other times as well as on Anzac Day.
