Thankfully, this series of AR speakers did not use foam for the speaker cone surrounds. The woofer has what appears to be an impregnated cloth material for the cone surround. I tested the woofers for integrity and compliance and found them to be in excellent condition.

Subject: AR speakers -- what drivers ? ... One day by coincidence I heard a pair of Braun L710's in a shop in ; Cambridge, MA and was exposed to genuine high-fidelity speakers for the first time in my life. I dumped the atrocious AR's as soon as I could and purchased the Braun's.
