In the fields of engineering, industry and statistics, accuracy is the degree of closeness of a measured or calculated quantity to its actual (true) value. Precision , also called reproducibility ...

Accuracy, Precision and Uncertainty in Measurement ... One important distinction between accuracy and precision is that accuracy can be determined by only one measurement, while precision can only be determined with multiple measurements.

PRECISION VERSUS ACCURACY ... You will get essentially the same measurement over and over again with a small reading error equal to about 1/10 of the smallest division on the ruler. You have determined the length with high precision. However, you don't know if the ruler was accurate to begin with.

The term Precision refers to the reproducibility of a result or measurement. The term Accuracy refers to how close a result or measurement is to the actual value. A common analogy is an archer shooting arrows at a target.

Accuracy and precision are not the same thing, although they are related. In the diagram at right, the bullseye of the target represents an "accepted value" of some measurement.

The example that is most commonly given to illustrate the concepts of accuracy and precision is that of a target shot by arrows. If you shoot a quiver of arrows at a target, several outcomes are possible. If all of the arrows that you shoot go straight to the bulls-eye, then your aim is both accurate and precise.

Use of AI and ET can impact accuracy. b. Selection intensity. Increased culling requires more replacements ... Based on that, is we can make a repeated measure, we might be able to afford being more casual in our measurement, but if we can only make one measurement (in one sex of the species), we might want to give more care.
