if i want my address bar to appear at the top beside my arrows (like most browser users are used to), i can do that. i just move things around. ... if you click on the status bar in your prefs, you'll see that you have the option of selecting it to appear in the address bar.

I know not much can be done about this, but what about colorizing the status bar, toolbars and window frames etc instead of the 'client' area? Too much customization of how the address bar can appear, esp if sites can modify it, harms the standardized way of recognizing safe sites.
