I wonder if capital punishment has already been discussed in the forum. Recently, a man was hanged to death in India who had raped and then murdered a high school girl. Incidently, he was the security guard in the apartment complex where the girl lived with her parents.

The homicide rate in Europe is significantly lower than in the US, so capital punishment clearly doesn't work as a deterrent. Life in prison, life without honour or hope, is often a worse fate than death.
