ir bags are typically designed to deploy in frontal and near-frontal collisions, which are comparable to hitting a solid barrier at approximately 8 to 14 miles per hour (mph). Roughly speaking, a 14 mph barrier collision is equivalent to st...

One threshold used by airbag designers is "must deploy" which includes a situation such as an impact into a rigid wall of 10-12 mph for unbelted occupants.

To have a frontal (driver or passenger) air bag deploy, certain criteria must be met. One of these criteria is that the frontal impact must be within a 60-degree window, occurring within 30 degrees from the vehicle's centerline.

Anyone know how to manually deploy airbag? Cars ... I'm making a commercial and need to deploy an airbag manually on cue. I haven't really found anything useful online. I will be taking all safety precautions so injuries won't be an issue. Do I need the module + air bag, or could I just use an airbag?

Should an airbag deploy, the force against the safety seat could result in serious or fatal injury to the child. Some car companies have begun installing a switch which lets you manually, and temporarily, shut off the passenger side airbag.

I've got a car crash couple of days ago. It was strange because the airbags of my 94 golf was deployed in quite slow speed carcrash. Does anybody know what is the critical speed for the airbag deploy for VW golf?

GM electronic air bag SDMs do not look at vehicle speed to determine an air bag deployment command. The airbag SDM looks for a change in acceleration on the vehicle 'X' axis to determine deployment criteria. So technically, a GM car could be stopped or moving very slowly, be in an accident event, and deploy the air bags.
