The results unequivocally show that alleles segregate in the predicted ratios and that alleles at loci on different chromosomes segregate independently. These data provide statistically robust proof that the genetic system is Mendelian and that meiosis occurs.

apply, which occurs only if 1) the alleles segregate and; 2) the genes assort independently. Condition 1) is violated; in cases of chromosomal non-disjunction and condition 2); is violated in the case of genes linked to the same;

18. Alleles of genes are on homologous chromosomes and at meiosis independent assortment of alleles of the same gene occurs. 18. Alleles segregate, different non homologous genes assort independently.

The results showed that non-transcribed alleles of Igf2r are packaged more compactly than transcribed alleles in F1 hybrid mice of both types of cross between C57BL/6 and MSM strains, whereas a non-imprinted gene, Sod-2, in the vicinity of Igf2r does not show such a difference.
