Bulb Storage. Clean the bulb and place it in a cool (40-50 deg. F), dark place such as the crisper of your refrigerator for a minimum of 6 weeks. Caution: Do not store amaryllis bulbs in a refrigerator that contains apples, this will sterilize the bulbs.

The leaves will help to replenish the food storage in the bulb. Amaryllis should be grown as a houseplant by watering and fertilizing regularly with a houseplant fertilizer such as 5-10-5 or 5-10-10. In early summer once the danger of frost has passed, I usually put mine outside under a shady tree.

After two or three months in storage, begin bringing pots of amaryllis upstairs. By adding a little fresh potting soil, if needed, and watering the container thoroughly, you'll start the cycle over again.
