Eastern Australian forms (including the Diamond Snake) are not reproductively isolated from one another, with hybrid or intergrade forms occurring wherever the ranges of those forms meet, (See Fig 1). All forms of the Carpet Snake and the Diamond Snake are usually common where they occur.
