My 5 week old grunts, strains, kicks, etc. I found Grunting Baby Syndrome on the internet and it seems very similar. He does it mainly in his sleep but some throughout the day. Does anyone know how long this lasts? ... My baby makes loud noises when she nurses. Is something wrong?

It sounds like grunting is normal for preemies, so I wonder if it's directly related to reflux. It also sounds like reflux is fairly common for preemies too though. When my baby grunts it sounds like he's more in pain and discomfort than anything.

When moving their bowels the baby usually makes grunting noises, parents think they are constipated. Its just that baby has not learned to control the noise as adults have.
