Balaclava Pattern Homemade Gear Forum ... The balaclava file does not have the pattern for the top of the hat so you need to print out the first page of the tunturi hat pattern as well. Be sure to mark the lines on the top pieces like the instructions say, it just makes things easier.

When I tried to find a basic balaclava pattern on the web I was sorely disappointed so I have written this one up for you. It is pretty much a modified Jacques Cousteau Hat (give or take a few bits).

From .75 m of 150 cm wide double-sided synthetic fleece, cut 2 balaclava pieces, using pattern (click here for pattern). With right sides together and edges even, sew each together from notch to notch around centre-back edge using 13 mm (1/2-in) seam allowance and leaving face and neck edges open.

That made me think, a lot of people come to this blog through searches for "balaclava pattern". I knitted mine as I went along and borrowed the motif from Charlene Schurch’s Hats On! book, but before I sent it off to my friend I thought I might look at it again, dig out my notes and write up the pattern.
