I'm a week away from twenty-seven, and I am actually starting to feel like a grown-up. That is weird, good and bad. Weird because: --I am just a kid. I don't know what the heck I'm doing, do I? --Have they figured out I'm faking it?

"I hate being a grown up." Funny, I said that to my mother not 24 hours ago. ... I'm being a grown up today. It sucks, but it isn't much fun ignoring adulthood in a house you can barely walk through, with no clean clothes and nothing to eat. Hopefully, I can revert ... THINGS ARE LOOKING UP FOR ME ... Being a grown up really is hard. I'm sooo glad that I don't have to buy food for the baby. Well I do bet most of it I get from W.I.C.. I just need to find a job, a cheap apartment, and not spend so much money on food.

I found the restrictions of childhood rather irksome and frustrating, and I felt so inadequate and so incompetent, and I was always fearful of failure, and of not being quite able to handle a situation. When I grew up, I gloried in the sense of adequacy and liberty that being grown up gave me.
