I believe the best way to cut styrofoam is with a band saw. It gives you complete control and a very crisp edge. You can cut straight or adjust the table so that you are cutting on an angle. This is how I make all of my forms.

The best way to cut this Styrofoam insulation is with an electric knife, but a jigsaw also works! (it's like thick foam-board & makes great bulletin boards as well) I've hung lamps from my ceiling & made sure to use a good serge-protector to minimize the chance of fire from my cords & lamps.

That's the kinda styrofoam type stuff, and not just cardboard, right? If I were to go get that at an art store or whatever, and get some of that spray glue stuff, that would work, right? I was thinking either cut to the exact size of the poster, or maybe get black, and have an extra inch or two all the way around.

They are a bit delicate, so make sure you take care of it. But yes, a hot wire cutter is the far superior way to cut/trim/carve foam. ... Here's an image of my cutter along with my keyring (for size reference) and a piece of styrofoam I just cut while drumming my fingers on the opposite end of the cutter.
