REPRODUCTION: Crested Caracaras build a massive stick nest in a palm, cactus, tree, or on the ground. The female usually lays 2 - 3 eggs that are incubated for 28 - 32 days. On a morning in May, 2002, I was in a blind near by some feeding caracaras and was able to get some shots of the bird seemingly looking at me upside down as it called. All the below shots from 2002 were taken with a Canon EOS 1V and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens with and without a 1.4X extender on Fuji Velvia.
