The SR71 Blackbird mach 3 plus reconnaisance aircraft was the fastest jet powered aircraft when it entered service and remained so for many years until it's retirement. ... Sadly the SR71 Blackbird is no longer operational. Orbital satelites can do most of the work for which the aircraft was originally designed for.
