The Primavera by Sandro Botticelli was painted at the height of his fame in late fifteenth century Florence. Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de’ Medici became one of Botticelli’s greatest patrons from around 1480 and the Primavera was almost certainly painted for him, in about 1482.
