For some reason my CD ROM suddenly stopped working. It has power (light is on) and is picked up in Explorer but when I try to access it I get a "device not ready" (or similar) message. Whether a coincidence or not I also can't get the computer to detect my Zip ... re: Why is my CD-ROM drive not working any more?

I am trying to use my Cd Rom and keep getting the following message: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31); HELP. I have found a few websites that talk about filters but I don't really understand what I need to do to rectify this.
