I had a childhood dislike for the caimito fruit simply because we had a caimito tree in our backyard. Its blooms have a very disagreeable smell! And you can imagine how it is to have the odor in the air for a month before the fruits finally appear!

A caimito tastes like a caimito. Generally the fruit is eaten fresh, although it may be an ingredient in fruit salads and sorbets. Mixing the cut up fruit with sour orange juice is quite refreshing.
