I was born here in Hawaii so I'm pretty familiar with Cane Spiders. I've seen them reach about 7 inches across from rear leg tip to opposite front leg tip. They have been reported to jump about 5 feet but I'm not sure if that's off a wall or from the floor.

Cane spiders in Hawaii rarely come inside of the house, but it does occassionally happen. They are not harmful, not poisonous. I am not an expert so I could be wrong. I do not think they are capable of inflicting a bite.

I have lived here in hawaii for about 8 years now on Oahu. I can assure you that cane spiders do not stay on the ceiling actually i have only seen on on my ceiling i find most of them behind curtains or under furniture, and sometimes in clothing.

Day #3 of business trips to Kauai, Hawaii. Kauai is approximately ... Cane spiders are ugly creatures. Curled up in a corner, they don't look too intimidating, but once you get them riled up and running, they stretch out their legs and look even more hideous. We found one sitting outside all cozy in a corner of the ceiling.
