Did not make it. Car cut off. Will not start. Probably locked up or burnt up. What are the odds that the engine could be freed up and possibly repaired (crankshaft etc.) rather than having to replace the engine or would it be better to go ahead and replace the engine because of future problems caused by unseen damage?

3.2 engine seized Rodeo/Passport ... Re: 3.2 engine seized ... But, you know what, it all still adds up to be cheaper then another 5-6yr car loan. I take it that your block and heads are thrashed?? If they're not, then rebuild YOUR engine, but I can't see your block being any good.

My engine's seized! What should I do? ... Once the engine has cooled down, the method for de-seizing is the same regardless of the cause of the problem. The first thing to try is rocking the engine gently. Put the bike or car in first gear and let the clutch engage fully.

I would consider a seized engine to be a fairly major problem, ... One week is not enough time to determine if a car will be a lemon or not. If the dealership replaces the engine with a brand new one off the assembly line then she is going to end up with exactly what she bought initially - a new car with a new engine.

You indicated that you have had the car for a year but make no mention of a warranty claim, ... You would also have seen that the engine was low on oil. I used to be a mechanic and I am a bit confused as to how a missing oil cap causes an engine to seize. You did not mention any indications of a problem until the engine seized.

How much do you value the engine in your car? Think about it, because the life of your engine depends in no small part on the quality of the oil you put in it - oil is the lifeblood of your car's engine. From the mid 80's for 8 or 9 years there was a veritable revolution in car engine oil.
