I get the gist of the question. Could be a plugged fuel filter or a plugged catalytic converter. Try the fuel filter first as it relatively cheap.

Pontiac question: Car runs good but will not idle, I have changed the fuel filter ... The car is a 1998 pontiac sunfire,the car will run as long as i control the throtle, no check engine fault lite or codes appear, this problum just accured with ... I would start by checking for a 5v refference at the idle air control motor.
